Welcome to Trullo Carlotta

Puglia, a region in the south of Italy, is fast becoming one of Europe's hottest holiday destinations. Over the last few years the word has really spread and campaigns such as #WeAreInPuglia have even hit the streets of London, encouraging everyone to visit this inspiring area in the heel of the land.

You can expect to see beautiful sandy beaches, peeling coloured stucco in the crooked lanes that lead up to the leafy piazzas with bustling markets. The ports and the sound of fisherman in the morning as they orchestrate their catch of the day. The smell of coffee and ice-cream as you stroll past one of the cafes and the cool temperature as you walk down the steps into one of your favourite osteria, which to the outsider is just an ordinary door. Not only is the picture rich with colours and character, but the sounds and smells will make you feel nostalgic about your experience the moment you step off the plane back home.

Puglia is home to the trullo (singular) and is known as the land of trulli (plural). Trulli are small stone buildings that look like igloos and speckle the countryside. Originally a farming region, the area is still very agricultural. The hot, dry weather makes the landscape ideal for harvesting olives and grapes meaning that the land is avast with groves and vineyards. In the days when peasants used to work in the fields they used to build the trulli and stay in the fields during farming season; the idea being that when the tax man came along they could just dismantle them!

Trullo Carlotta is lovely little villa set in one of the most interesting landscapes Italy has to offer. Surrounded by olive groves and incredibly private, this family-owned holiday home really lends itself to the traditional Italian vacation scene. Four bedrooms, a big garden, a private pool, and its proximity to towns such as Castellano, Conversano, Alberobello and Monopoli, makes Trullo Carlotta one of the most unique places to stay.
